- The above verse is what the class will be reciting Thursday evening at the Christmas program . Hopefully your child brought home the song sheet with the verse attached and you are working on both at home. Children should arrive to class by 6;30 p.m. that evening.

- The children did a great job playing their recorders for the American Heritage Day program. I was glad so many parents could join us for the performance.
- Enjoy the Thanksgiving break. Be sure not to come back on Monday, the 28th as that is a teacher in-service day., but return on the 29th.
- Our Christmas program will be the 8th of December. Our class will be singing about and reciting Isaiah 9:6.
- Spelling tests will be on Wednesday and Friday as usual.
- The memory verses, Luke 1:68-69 will be due on Friday.
- Friday we will also have a chapter 7 math test. We have been introduced to all the multiplication families now and after Christmas we will be tested weekly over each family.
- We will wrap up our unit on tall tales after the break and enjoy a tall tale DVD as a culminating activity.
- We enjoyed all the samplings of food from each region after our Heritage Studies test on Tuesday. We tried maple syrup, peanuts, cornbread, tator tots, and pineapple.

- Thank you to those who expressed condolences to me in the loss of my dear mother. I was able to deliver the eulogy at her memorial service and the Lord reassured me she is with Him.

- Our field trip to the Los Encinos State Historic Park went very well. We all enjoyed the tour of the house, making butter, and feeding the ducks. Praise God for providing all the drivers and beautiful weather!
- Please pray for my family as my 89 yr. old mother will be making her way into the Savior's arms this weekend. She is on Hospice after a stroke. I will most likely be gone from Wed.-Fri. for her service in Illinois. Pray for me as I will be giving the eulogy and many unsaved people may be there. Pray for my husband as well since he may be doing part of the service.

- Wednesday is our first field trip to the Los Encinos State Historic Park in Encino. Thanks to those who have volunteered to drive. Don't forget to send your child's permission slip and $3 by Tuesday. Have your child bring a sack lunch and wear his/her field trip T-shirt on the day of the trip.
- Please pray for my mother who is 89 yrs. old and resides in Freeport, IL. She has been hospitalized for erratic blood pressure, high fever, nausea, and a high fever. She is currently on an IV and a strong antibiotic. I appreciate you bringing her before the throne of grace.

- We will have a "rendezvous" in Heritage Studies on Tuesday- a trading party to go with our study of mountain men. The children may bring items they no longer wish to use,but are still in good condition. A snack, old book, toy, pencil, etc. may be brought. The children will have the opportunity to trade within their rows, boys with boys/girls with girls, and the whole class in finality.
- I still need 2-3 drivers for our field trip on Wednesday, October 26th to Los Encinos State Historic Park .Let me lnow if you are available.
- The first book report went fairly smoothly. We all enjoyed seeing the projects completed.Our next report will be a choice from the "If You" series and will be due in November. Watch for more details to be sent home this coming week. I always give three weeks for a book to be read and a project completed. Being on time is very important.

- We had our first art lesson with Mrs. Grisso last Monday. She taught us how to mix primary colors to make secondary colors. We really enjoyeds painting the color wheels. They look really fun hung up on our walls.
- Practically every student got 100% on the spelling test this week. So far Genesis Bonilla and Jeffrey Abe have been able to administer the test on Friday to the class as they received 100% Wednesday and have the privilige to be the "teacher" on Friday.

- We have survived eight days of school already- two spelling tests, two Bible verse tests, and one math test down.
- We enjoyed celebrating the August and September birthdays last Friday with lots of treats and a fun game of "Magic Music". Isabel Coscolluela, Natalie Duran, Bryce Klassen, Cassie Fawzi, and Matthew Vasquez were honored with the birthday song.
- Our tests for next week include spelling on Wednesday and Friday and the memory verse test (John 4:21-22) on Friday as well.
- Next Friday evening is Hawk Night. Look for details on the school website and info to home will be sent as well. Hope to see you there.
- Monday, September 26 is Teacher in-service so NO SCHOOL that day.
- The physical map project is due October 3rd. Details were sent home and the children and they have looked at photos of last year's projects. Parents may view the photos in the classroom as well.

- Grace Olympics Tuesday from 8:30 -11 in the gym. Students are to wear field trip shirt and dark blue or dark colored athletic shorts as well as tennis shoes.
- The Mother/child Tea went nicely on Thursday. The children performed well and it was a joy to see all the moms in attendance.
- Congratulations to Michelle Dibo for being our April Good Citizen. She was recognized during the tea.
- Our end of the year picnic will be Thursday, June 2nd at the Montrose Park. Thsi is a lovely small park near where I live that is secluded and offers lots of play area and clean restrooms. Let me know if you'd like to drive that day and/or help in any way. I could use someone to purchase the needed items-you will be given petty cash and then need to turn in receipts, grill the hotdogs, fill water balloons, help with relays, etc. I will send home a flyer in the near future.

- Field trip on Thursday. We are going to the Autry National Center and Travel Town to enhance our unit on "The Wild West" and the Transcontinental Railroad. We will leave at 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately 2:00 p.m. Students are to wear field trip T-shirts and uniform bottoms. The cost is $5 and permission slips need to be returned by Tuesday.
- The end of the second quarter and first semester is this coming Friday, the 14th.
- We are now working on the basic multiplication facts in math. We will be taking 2 minute time tests for each family. Twenty-five students already passed at 100% for the 2's family. The students will record their progress on individual charts and be rewarded for each 100%. Please work at home on the facts. Our next test will be on the 5's.
